lyrics

Spent the summers in the forest
Baking hearts under the sun
You inside a sundress made in 1951
Spent the evenings by the fire
Built with beach wood and the brush
Some paper soaked in kerosene, a birdhouse that we crushed

You said to sit with you atop the hill, glad I was on your team
With 50 stains from dandelions yellowing my jeans
Alone at last at least just for the rest of afternoon
And we’d head back with headlights on pointed straight to the moon

Spent the winters wrapped in blankets
Watched the freeze cover the panes
Living off of leftovers and focusing on Maine
Watched our things begin to pile up, collecting hand me downs and trash
Warming up with liquor just to save a little cash

You said that you could get real used to this, let’s find an open house
Renovate some shit hole and pretend we bought it out
You said you’d take the garden and I could take the shed
And we would finally have a place we both could lay our heads
